WHY WE’RE DOING THIS
Supporting artists close to home
Volubilis is a working house. People come here to build companies, host events and spend their days in the garden and the courtyard. We wanted artists in that mix too.
The residency is our way of supporting artists working in and around Marbella: giving them space, time and an audience, with no pressure to produce anything commercial.
It also gives something back to the house. Every artist who passes through leaves a trace — a piece, a wall, a workshop people still talk about. Over time those traces become the visual identity of Volubilis, built by the people who have actually spent time here rather than designed from the outside.
HOW IT WORKS
One week, one piece, one open ending
Stay
The artist spends the week at Volubilis, with access to the house, the garden and the courtyard as working space.
Make
Time to create a piece — new work made here, in response to the place and the people passing through it.
Share
The week closes with a workshop or an exhibition, open to the Volubilis community and to the public.
